Definitely get involved with any extracurricular writing activities that will help you gain experience and build your resume. Online magazines that allow anyone to submit work for them are a great example and an awesome way to get published work. I write for HerCampus for MSU occasionally. Even if you get one story published to anything it’s a byline for your resume as “Freelance writer for …..”
3 Things You Should Never Have Low Standards About:
Do you go to my school? No, it’s definitely not too late. The requirements for JRN are JRN 100-400 which you can get done in a year if you can take in 2 years. Or even over the summer! I’d recommend it if you’re not enjoying your current major, if it’s something you like!
The current dream is to work at a magazine. I love to write and tell stories, but design is really fun too! I learned all that I know about broadcast in my 4 years in high school and now in college I write for 2 online magazines, I do real-life reporting at events in another city for my Journalism class, and I have a journalism internship as my job where I write/edit stories, do photography and graphic design!
